Day 1: Dar-es-Salaam to Mikumi National Park
Our driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel in Dar-es-Salaam at 06:00am then drive to Mikumi National Park (about 7 hours drive including a short stop for lunch in Morogoro). You may choose to have a short stop for lunch on the way if you wish. Afternoon game drive to explore Mikumi National Park. For more information visit:Mikumi National Park Mikumi is great big game park with over ten species of large mammal easily found. There are also numerous predators including lion and leopard. In the evening drive to the hippo pools for the sunset before retiring to the Hippo Pools Campsite for overnight on full-board.
Day 2: Mikumi to Udzungwa Mountains National Park
Early breakfast, depart for a morning game drive in Mikumi with packed lunch. Leave the park around 2pm then transfer to Udzungwa Mountains (about 2 hours drive). Arrive at Hondo Hondo after lunch. This afternoon you may choose to go for another or do a guided bird walk/ nature trail walk around the camp if you wish. Alternatively – relax at the camp and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Overnight at Hondo Hondo Campsite , on full board.
Day 3: Full day Udzungwa Mountains National Park
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the park H.Q. to pick up your guide and pay the park fees. Then a short drive to the Sanje waterfalls trail head before heading of finto the pristine Eastern Arc forest with packed lunch. Enjoy a spectacular, approximately 2 hours trek up (the hike is a bit steep in places) to the top of the falls, looking for endemic primates on the way. Then enjoy a refreshing swim in the plunge pools once you reach the top. Descend the mountain then transfer to Hondo Hondo Campsite on full board.
Day 4: Drive back to Dar-es-salaam
After breakfast, you can choose to do a morning bird and monkey walk along the camp if you wish. Leave the Udzungwa before 10am then drive back to Dar-es-Salaam with picnic lunch. Drop in Dar-es-Salaam before 7pm. End of service.
