Scouts & Guides tool making

Wild Things has been working with the UK Scout Association and the Guides since 2012 and has cooperated with them to build three medical centers, a school, six classrooms and some doctors accommodation.  Typically the Scout Leaders come out  a year and a half before the project is due for completion to have a look at the area, and decide between the possible project options.    This then allows a year of so for the young people to raise the funds and the majority of the building to be completed.  The Scouts then come out for the final phase and help with the painting and participate in the opening celebrations.

Wild Things provides vehicles (both buses and safari 4x4s) checked to UK standards for med-evacuation and logistical support at camp. We also provide translators and cooks to assist the Scouts with their projects and ensure they are well fed. The cook is typically helped by a local assistant and a camp duty team of young people. We also assist the visiting Scouts or Guides to make contact with local Tanzanian Scouts so they can cooperate on the projects and gain good experience working together.

In addition to the community project we arrange a hiking section in the mountains, a safari section to see some big animals and an optional beach section with activities such as canoing and snorkeling.
