Day 1: Dar-es-Salaam to Mikumi National Park
Our driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel in Dar-es-Salaam at 06:00am then drive to Mikumi National Park (about 7 hours drive including a short stop for lunch in Morogoro). You may choose to have a short stop for lunch on the way if you wish. Afternoon game drive to explore Mikumi National Park. Settle into the Hippo pools campsite for overnight on full-board, there will be an armed ranger for your protection during the night. Sleep to the sounds of lions roaring.
Day 2: Full Day Exploring Mikumi National Park
Wake up with the sun and go for an early morning game drive. Return to your camp for lunch and then either have a siesta during the heat of the day or visit the waterhole bar at one of th nearby lodges for a cold beer whilst you watch the animals come to drink. Afternoon game drive when the heat starts to go at around 4.00pm. Dinner and overnight camping at th hippo pools campsite, with armed ranger.
Day 3: Mikumi to Udzungwa Mountains National Park
Early breakfast, depart for a morning game drive in Mikumi then transfer to Udzungwa Mountains (about 2 hours drive). Arrive at Hondo Hondo Camp in time for lunch. This afternoon you may choose to go for another or do a guided bird walk/ nature trail walk around the camp if you wish. Alternatively – relax at the camp and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Overnight at Hondo Hondo Camp camping on full board.
Day 4: Full day Udzungwa Mountains National Park
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the park with packed lunch. Embark on the Sanje waterfalls trail – an approximately 4 hours trek through beautiful forest, looking for endemic primates on the way (the hike is a bit steep in places) – enjoy a refreshing swim in the plunge pools once you reach the top. Descend the mountain then transfer to Hondo Hondo Campsite. Overnight camping on full board.
Day 5: Drive back to Dar-es-salaam
After breakfast, you can choose to do a morning bird and monkey walk before departure. Leave the Udzungwas before 10am then drive back to Dar-es-Salaam with picnic lunch. Drop in Dar-es-Salaam before 7pm. End of service.
