We think that this is one of the best ‘southern circuit’ lodge safaris possible in terms of value for money. All the accommodation is excellent and the wildlife is without compare.
Dar es Salaam, the starting point for most southern circuit safaris, is just a short drive from Dar International Airport.

DAY 1. DRIVE DAR TO MIKUMI
06:00hrs pick up from your Hotel in Dar es Salaam and drive to Mikumi National park ( approx 6.5 hours driving). Stop for lunch on the way. On arrival at Mikumi settle into your lodge before proceeding with an afternoon game drive. The park is home to: Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Wild dog, Zebras, Hyena, Buffalo, Wildebeest, Eland, Wildebeest and numerous other animals as well as over 300 species of birds. Dinner and overnight at Vuma Hills Tented Camp. At the lodge there are numerous habituated nocturnal animals including bush babies and honey badgers – this is of course excellent for both children and adults alike.

DAY 2. MIKUMI TO FULL DAY IN MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK
After a beautiful overnight at Vuma Hill Tented Camp in Mikumi.

DAY 3. MIKUMI TO RUAHA NATIONAL PARK
An early start from your lodge, transfer to Ruaha National Park with packed lunch en route. At Ruaha you will stay at Mwagusi Safari Lodge in the hear to the park. Afternoon game drive till sunset looking for leopard and super prides of up to twenty lions. Drive back to the Mwagusi for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4 & 5. FULL DAYS RUAHA NATIONAL PARK
Full days exploring the magnificent Ruaha National Park. There will be plenty for you to see in this
large, visually stunning park. Look for beautiful Kudu, wild dogs and leopard near the Kilimatonga kopje and cheetah on the other side of the Sand River. Overnight at the excellent Mwagusi Safari Lodge.

DAY 6. RUAHA TO UDZUNGWA MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast transfer by safari 4×4 to Hondo Hondo Tented Camp at the Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Lunch on the way in Iringa at Nema Crafts. Arrive the Hondo Hondo in time to settle in and enjoy watching the primates on the forest edge with a sundowner.

DAY 7. SANJE WATERFALLS – SPECTACULAR UDZUNGWA MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK
After a spectacular breakfast head to the park HQ and pick up your guide before trekking, through changing Eastern Arc forest, to the top of the 180m Sanje Waterfall. There are numerous primates in the park including the endemic Iringa red Colobus and the Sanje Mangeby. There a plunge pools to swim in so make sure you bring your swimming kit! The forest around Sanje has giant 60m trees festooned with lichens and mosses. endemic African Violets grow in the spray zone of the upper waterfalls and you can find pygmy bearded chameleons amongst the tree-ferns. Return to Hondo Hondo Tented camp for dinner and overnight.

DAY 8. UDZUNGWA MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK TO DAR ES SALAAM
After breakfast check out then transfer to Ruaha Airstrip for your flight to Dar es salaam at 11:45hrs.
