Tanzania's Northern Safari Circuit includes some of the most famous and remarkable sights in the world, such as the annual Wildebeest Migration and the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater.
When coming to Tanzania it is a great idea to combine a big-game safari with some time to explore Zanzibar and its amazing beaches. This itinerary takes the stress and rush out of doing exactly that! This trip is ideal for the discerning traveller who likes to enjoy their chosen locations.
- 5 days in the Selous Game Reserve, with 3 nights at Rufiji River Camp and 2 nights out fly-camping in the bush
- 3 days and 3 nights at Blue Bay Beach Hotel, Zanzibar, the romantic 'Spice Island'
Day 1 - Pick up in Dar Es Salaam and transfer to the domestic airport. transfer by light plane to the heart of the Selous Game Reserve. Here you will be met by safari staff and transferred to Rufiji River Camp, located on a bend in the Rufiji River (you can see crocodile and large pods of hippo from the bar). After lunch you will enjoy a superb boat safari.
Day 2 - Full day of safari activities choosing 2 of: an incredible boat safari on the Rufiji River, game drive or walking safari with armed ranger. Returning to Rufiji River Camp in time for sunset drinks and another fantastic meal.
Day 3 - You will go on a game drive through the Kimara region of the Selous Game reserve to a camp site, idyllically located on the banks of the Mgeta River. After lunch there will be a walking safari, accompanied by an armed ranger. Dinner served under the stars.
Day 4 - There will be a full day game drive in the Kinyanguru region of the Selous Game Reserve followed by another night fly-camping. No camping in the bush is complete without a good camp-fire, keeping you warm whilst you experience the sounds of the night.
Day 5 - After a morning walking safari there will be a game drive back to the comforts of Rufiji River Camp for a final night in the Selous Game Reserve.
Day 6 - Spend the morning relaxing by the swimming pool or observing the waterhole. After lunch you will drive out to the airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar where there will be a vehicle waiting to transfer you to Blue Bay Beach Resort, one of the finest resorts on the island.
Day 7 - There is a wide range of water sport activities on offer at Blue Bay Beach Resort from fishing to windsurfing. The professional dive school offers dives and short courses for all levels of experience and can take you out to some of the most dramatic coral reefs in East Africa.
Day 8 - Blue Bay Beach Resort is so beautiful and peaceful it will be hard to drag yourself away, but for those who are able to leave the beach there are several excursions that can be arranged by the hotel to see the sights of Zanzibar, including a Spice Tour and a visit to Jozani Forest with its famous endemic monkeys.
Day 9 - After a leisurely breakfast you will transfer to the airport for your flight off Zanzibar.

All the Parks visited are really wonderful, especially Ruaha and the "king" Katavi that worth absolutely the long trip (at least in our point of view). Yahaya and Salim are like two friends.
