Tanzania's Northern Safari Circuit includes some of the most famous and remarkable sights in the world, such as the annual Wildebeest Migration and the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater.
The Selous Game Reserve is the largest conservation area on the planet with the exceptions of the polar regions. Just a 40 minute flight from Dar Es Salaam this is an ideal opportunity to make your weekend special. For a short Tanzania safari it is actually more economical to fly than to drive.
Below is a typical safari itinerary please note several different accommodation options are available at different budgets:
Selous Flying Safari Weekend - Mid-range Flying Safari
Day 1: Make your own way to Dar Es Salaam domestic Airport, catch the 8.30am flight into the heart of the Selous Game Reserve Siwandu Airstrip where you will be met and transferred to Lake Manze Tented Camp. Afternoon boat safari. This is fantastic for bird watching as well as for Hippos and Crocodiles. Lake Manze Tented Camp is well situated with great views of the lake and several prides of lion in close proximity. You will sleep to the sound of lions roaring. Food and service are excellent.
Day2: Full day exploring the Selous on a game drive. Look for Wild Dogs, Lions and the elusive Leopard. Either have a picnic lunch in the Reserve or return to camp as you prefer. Full board at Lake Manze Tented Camp.
Day 3: Morning walking safari or short game drive, transfer to Siwandu Airstrip and catch the 10.30 am flight to Dar (or continue on to Zanzibar).
Price: From $1210 per person based on 2 pax sharing. All inclusive except alcohol, sodas, gratuities and items of a personal nature.
