The Selous Game Reserve is the largest conservation area on the planet with the exceptions of the polar regions. Just a 40 minute flight from Dar Es Salaam this is an ideal opportunity to make your weekend special. For a short safari to Selous it is actually more economical to fly than to drive.

Below is a typical safari itinerary please note several different accommodation options are available at different budgets:

Selous Flying Safari Weekend - Budget Flying Safari

Day 1: Make your own way to Dar Es Salaam domestic Airport, catch the 8.30am flight to the Selous Game Reserve where you will be met and transferred to Mbega Tented Camp. Afternoon boat safari on the Rufigi River. This is fantastic for bird watching as well as for Hippos and Crocodiles. Selous Mbega Camp is basic but comfortable and has great views of the Rufiji River. It takes its name from the numerous Black and White Colobus that may be seen around camp.

Day2: Full day exploring the Selous on a game drive. Look for Wild Dogs, Lions and the elusive Leopard. Either have a picnic lunch in the Reserve or return to camp as you prefer. Full board at Mbega Camp.

Day 3: Morning walking safari, transfer to Mtemere Airstrip and catch the 10.30 am flight to Dar (or continue on to Zanzibar).

Price: From $750 per person based on 2 pax sharing. All inclusive except alcohol, sodas, gratuities and items of a personal nature.
